News and Events Submissions open for 2026 New Zealand Research Software Conference This September, connect with the people and projects building and using software for research. The Aotearoa New Zealand Research Software (NZRS) Conference will take place online on 7–8 September 2026 as a free, online event, making it accessible to researchers, developers, data specialists, infrastructure professionals and anyone interested in research software. Now in its 10th year, this event provides a platform to connect, share ideas, and showcase tools and practices that enable impactful research. Hosted by REANNZ, this conference is endorsed by the Research Software Engineers Association of Australia and New Zealand (RSE-AUNZ). This year also marks an important evolution for the event. Previously known as the New Zealand Research Software Engineering (NZRSE) Conference, it has been renamed the Aotearoa New Zealand Research Software (NZRS) Conference to better reflect our community and values. The new name signals a broader, more inclusive approach, creating space for everyone who contributes to research software in all its forms. NZRS 2026 will feature a diverse and engaging programme, including keynote speakers, presentations, lightning talks, panel discussions, and demos. The conference aims to support and highlight the work of those who build and use research software, data, and systems. Get involved Registration and abstract submissions are now open. The deadline to submit abstracts is 3 August 2026, 5:00 PM (NZST). We invite abstract submissions of presentations, demos, and lightening talks from across the research community. Whether you’re developing tools, supporting infrastructure, working with data, or advancing best practices, we welcome your contributions.
