News and Events New appointments to the senior leadership team REANNZ Chief Executive Amber McEwen has today announced the appointment of Blair Bethwaite and Georgina Rae to the REANNZ senior leadership team. “I am delighted that both Blair and George have accepted positions with us as Head of Advanced Computing and Data Services, and Head of Science Engagement respectively,” she says. “They formally join REANNZ on 1 July, alongside 20 of their current team members, with the official integration of NeSI people, services and technology into REANNZ, although both of them and many of their team, have been working alongside us for months as we collectively prepare the way for the new, integrated organisation. “It is a pivotal time for REANNZ and for the sector as we centralise eResearch infrastructure so we can better support our research, education and innovation sectors to deliver quality outcomes. “I know it will be welcome news to everyone that Blair, George and their teams are onboard. George has been with NeSI since 2015, while Blair joined in 2018. “Having their knowledge and expertise at the senior table is critical to our success in building the strength of this integrated business. “I am thrilled we will have 22 new colleagues joining us on 1 July to help take things to the next level.” As Head of Science Engagement, George will continue to lead science engagement - partnerships, training and consultancy. Her team connects with the research sector, helping researchers and institutions build capability, adopt new research methods, and achieve impactful research outcomes. The team deliver outreach, events and communications, training to upskill researchers and provide consultancy services offering specialist expertise in research software and data engineering. As Head of Advanced Computing and Data Services Blair will continue to lead teams responsible for development, management, integration and operational delivery of eResearch infrastructure platforms and associated services. This includes High-Performance Computing (HPC), AI and machine learning, data analytics capabilities, research data services, and expert support to ensure researchers get the best value from these capabilities.
