This workshop is designed for researchers, postgraduate students, and Research Software Engineers who want to improve the quality, sustainability, and reusability of the software they develop for research. Participants will learn practical tools and techniques for creating FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) research software that supports open and reproducible research.

Some of the topics covered in the workshop are:

  • Principles of open and reproducible research and their application to software development.
  • Assessing software for maintainability, reproducibility, and reuse.
  • Professional software development workflows using Git and collaborative practices.
  • Reproducible environment management and sustainable software development approaches.
  • Designing modular, extensible, and reusable research software.
  • Implementing testing, documentation, and quality assurance practices.

Pre-Requisites 

Participants should have foundational experience with: Python programming Git version control Working at the command line (unix shell)
