REANNZ has begun extending the NEN trial to up to 200 schools. The extended trial will run until at least June 2011 and will provide schools with very fast, unrestricted broadband at 100Mb/s or greater.

e-cast education deliver content streaming and distribution services to the education and research sector over KAREN.
The Ultranet learning management system is accessible to teachers over KAREN.
e-asTTle is an online learning and assessment tool for New Zealand primary school teachers and is accessible over KAREN.
This programme offered free KAREN membership to institutes of technology, polytechnics (ITPs) and wānanga for the 2008 calendar year in exchange for trial projects enabled by KAREN.
